On Long Ago, Steve Howell, Dan Sumner, and Jason Weinheimer deliver a wonderful collection of sophisticated blues and instrumentals from great American composers ranging from Duke Ellington and Horace Silver to Percy Mayfield and Dave Frishberg. These audiophile renditions of this idiosyncratic set list are presented in a highly musical, easy-going and intimate style featuring two guitars, bass, and vocals. Howell’s fingerstyle guitar mastery and vocals have been featured on his eight previous releases to wide international radio airplay and critical acclaim. Sumner’s reputation as a gifted guitarist, record producer, studio owner, and music educator is broadly recognized. Weinheimers musical skills are admired by all, along with his talents as record producer, studio owner, singer-songwiter, and audio engineer. With an emphasis on melody and artful instrumental prowess, Long Ago brings to life a delightful set of timeless songs for our uncertain age
