The debut release by New Orleans R&B bassist James “The Sleeping Giant” Winfield. This is old school R&B that used to come out of New Orleans all the time and is getting rarer. Until now. On “Lonely Lonely Nights,” Winfield is backed by a band that includes members of Walter “Wolfman” Washington’s Roadmasters. He covers Guitar Slim’s “The Things I Used to Do,” the Earl King title track, Ray Charles’ “Hallelujah, I Love Her So,” Little Willie John’s “Now You Know” and Chris Kenner’s “Sick and Tired,” among others.
