Sheldon Allan Silverstein (stagename Shel Silverstein) was an American entertainer from Chicago with a comedic edge, better known for his work as a children’s author. As a songwriter, Silverstein had a string of Billboard songwriting successes including credits for the 1969 Johnny Cash hit “A Boy Named Sue”. Originally released as a double album on GRT’s Janus Records in 1973, Crouchin’ on the Outside is a compilation of live and studio recordings. Tracks 1-14: recorded live at Mother Blues, Chicago, Illinois. Tracks 15-26: recorded at Ter-Mar Recording Studios, Chicago, Illinois.
