Sekou is an articulate, intelligent and mature artist who truly deserves to leap the boundaries of the poetry-loving ghetto to reach the pop record buying public (in particular, the masses of African-American women who supported Waiting To Exhale in both it’s book and film versions). This album’s secret weapon is co-producer Doug Booth, a songwriter whose soulful singing provides fine complement to Sekou’s smooth baritone recitations. First single: “Open Heart” to R&B, college, jazz and public radio.
