Discovered by folklorist Alan Lomax in 1959 at the age of 55, Fred was a powerful and expressive singer and a unique and brilliant slide guitarist who generated some of the most hypnotic rhythms heard in the blues. This CD is a superlative collection of his recordings made for Arhoolie in 1964 and 1966, including the great You Gotta Move, later recorded by the Stones. *- the Grove Press Guide to the Blues on CD.
