The threads of unity, enlightenment, and positivity weave through MojoFlo’s uplifting debut full-length album, What It Is, binding together universal messages with a fresh, emergent voice. Hailing from Ohio-the birthplace of funk-MojoFlo solidifies their role as the next torchbearers in this historic lineage. The 8-track album is a culmination of over a decade’s worth of songs and ideas that, in many ways, mark both a closing chapter and usher in the dawn of a new era. “That’s What’s Up” exemplifies the future of funk being co-signed by royalty as it features Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Bootsy Collins (James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic) alongside MojoFlo’s own Amber Knicole on vocals. What It Is stands as a truly artisanal work made with love, authenticity, live instruments, and void of any samples and loops. It is a heartfelt love letter to the music lover inside of everyone, crafted layer-by-layer, piece-by-piece to guide listeners on a soulful, funky journey.
