An ex road-protester with a passion for hitch-hiking; an urban song-writer with a penchant for the pastoral Life for Kirsty McGee is full of quirks and contradictions. Her bittersweet songs, which can only be described as ‘folk noir’, are as much informed by Tom Waits, as by English folk music. Best Original Song Nomination BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.2005.
