Before his stardom as a member of Ike & Tina Turner, Ike Turner worked as Sam Phillips’ talent scout, discovering artists like Little Milton and Rosco Gordon. He also performed on what is considered the very first rock and roll recording ever, “Rocket 88.” Sun Records Originals: I’m Gonna Forget about you showcases the recordings he made in the late 1950s with Sam Phillips, and features tracks new to streaming like the dreamy yet melancholy piano driven groove of “Why Should I Keep Trying.”
