This collection contains songs recorded between 1950 and 1955, either live at hootenannies sponsored by Sing Out! Magazine, issued as 78rpm records on the defunct Hootenanny Records label, or recorded for special projects organized by Sing Out!. Taken together, they typify the hootenanny tradition of audience participation, topicality, and variety.
