Frequently cited as an influence by major forces within today’s rap, hip-hop and spoken word movements, Gil Scott-Heron’s early fusion of poetry, jazz and socio-political consciousness broke onto the scene with an incredible force. This collection of his best work (from his 3 Flying Dutchman releases ’70-’72) features some of his best known pieces, including “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” and “Whitey on the Moon.”
