A true original and the most accessible of the so-called “swamp blues” artists, Slim Harpo (a.k.a. The King Bee) stands as the best known artist on the Excello roster. A seminal influence on British blues (and American funk), Harpo combined talking blues, New Orleans dance riffs and funk beats for a sound that still inspires blues rockers more than a quarter century since his passing. This set contains 4 Top 40 chart hits: “I’m a King Bee,” “Shake Your Hips,” “Rainin’ in My Heart” and “Baby, Scratch My Back.”
